I have laminate flooring that was laid in my house before I moved in. The sub-floor is concrete covered with black tiles. We believe the laminate was glued down some years ago by previous tenants. I doubt there is an underlay of any description underneath and the laminate itself is of a cheap quality and something that we want to replace but cannot afford to do in the foreseeable future.
Just today, we noticed that a large area seems to have suddenly lifted up from the sub-floor so that when you walk over it, it "bounces". It wasn't like that yesterday but is really "bouncy" today.
This area is mostly along three or four "planks" of the laminate in the centre of the room, but seems centralised around the area in front of the settee where the children sit
What could possibly have caused it, and what, if anything, we can do about it?
It has happened suddenly and as it has been down so long it seems strange.
Could it have been caused by one of the children spilling a drink and not wiping it up quickly enough? Could it be the weather, it has been very wet and cold recently and we have just put our central heating on again?
Any advice on this would be gratefully received!
