Recently, my 11 year old greyhound has been struggling to stand on our laminate floor. At first, he only slipped every now and again, but it's becoming more frequent. At first we thought it might be to do with the length of his nails, but having trimmed them, we've seen no improvement.
Today he slipped again and ended up on the floor with his legs splayed in all directions, and made no noise whatsoever (he normally yelps). We helped him to lie down on his bed, but his eyes were flickering from side to side, he was shaking, and his eyes were dripping with tears. He seems better now, though he's still a bit shaky. Could anyone shed some light as to why this is happening? Any help would be appreciated.
We will take him to the vet, but it's not open this time of night! There's no need to be rude, I'm just trying to find out what's wrong, and see if there are any ways that I can help him in the meantime. If you don't have a constructive answer, don't post a response!
