I went on holiday for 3 weeks and left the flat desocupied, when I was back my bathroom was a mess as the top flat had a water leak that completelly destroyed my bathroom, the celining fell off, the wallpapers were all wet and peeling off etc..
the landlord came and got it all sorted, fitted new wallpaper etc but the carpet wasn't changed, the carpet smelt like wet dog since the accident so I decided to wash it, using carpet shampoo and a mop I washed then put heat on full blast to dry it, but after that a cut/crack appeared in the carpet (as if the water made it shrink), I've put up with it for about 18 months but now I feel like I need to get it sorted, would it be up to me or up to the landlord to pay for the carpet repairs?
I was thinking maybe I could propose to buy the laminate/carpet and the landlord will fit(he's good at DIY), what do you think? seems fair?
