Recently our washing machine broke down, it is under a 5 year warranty with the manufacturer. They sent out someone to repair it the other week, however 5 days later i noticed that water was seeping up through the laminate flooring (causing it to distort and warp). I later found that the source of it was from the point where the washing machine is connected to the pipes under my sink (I immediately shut off the water to this pipe). After ringing up the companys warranty helpline they said they would dispatch someone to see the problem. What i would like to know is what are my rights in terms of claiming money for damages to the laminate flooring, the floorboards under that and the kitchen cupboard where all the pipes are based. Is the company liable for the damages and should they pay out for repairs?
The machine broke down weeks before, we called them out, then they ordered parts for a new drum and circuit board. The man who originally came round unplugged all the washing machine to get it out (he shut off the water leading to the washing machine and kept it off). However when the parts arrived another engineer came out to fit them, the washing machine was already unplugged (with no water leading going through the pipe), when he finished the repair he plugged everything back in and turned the water back on. Days later i discovered the leak, which was at the point where the washing machines pipe connected up to the main pipe. Obviously the second engineer didn't hook everything back up correctly, hence the leak.
I hope thats a bit more help to you guys, i really need to know what to do as one of their engineers is coming out on friday
