I live in a rented house in the UK.
We currently have laminate that our landlord fitted before we moved in around 20 months ago. The problem is, it doesn't seem to have been fitted correctly and there were gaps where water (from mopping, etc) has gone underneath and has made some of the laminate peel - plus with the gaps, i'm worried about hygiene issues.
The letting agent who represents our landlord says there is nothing wrong with the floor covering and the issue I have raised is purely aesthetics and are not covered in my lease, which is fair enough I suppose, so I was wondering whether we could lay vinyl down over the laminate?
We were thinking of buying some large boards and laying them down and then laying the vinyl over the top of that, so the laminate stays in tact.
Please don't point out that as our house is leased we would be wasting our money, etc, as we aren't intending on moving anytime soon (i.e. over the next couple of years at least) and as I am 6 months pregnant I would like to get the kitchen floor sorted ASAP and we are already in the process of painting the house to 'freshen it up' a bit before baby arrives.
Thanks
