I need some advice. The husband of a lady I work with fitted our laminate floor (cash in hand £350) for us just over 5mths ago. It started to lift in places and I asked if her husband to come back out to fix it but he was busy at the time so I didnt mention it again and he never came. This week we have had three separate quotes to have the floor fixed and every one of them has said that the whole laminate flooring will have to be lifted and binned!!!! It has not been fitted correctly as there has not been enough gap left to let the laminate expand, hence the lifting. It is starting to lift in other places too which in turn has effected the whole floor. None of the flooring can be salvaged as the lock mechanism has been damaged. Even the beading had been cut badly around our fixed skirt boards! So we have to go out and buy a whole new laminate floor and we're talking a hall, pool room and sitting room areas - approx 40sq meters. We have called my friend to speak with her husband but he was out. She has been told about the mess and its obviously embaressing for her and we await her husbands phone call. What the hell do we ask of him? I wouldnt ket him loose gain in our house to lay the new floor for all the tea in china so are we entitled to ask for our money back even though we have no proof he did the job?
Any help would be good.
