We moved into a rented house and it had grubby carpets....we cleaned the carpet in the sitting room with a proper cleaner...a hired one that shampoos the carpet...but the day we did it the weather was muggy and now 3 days later the carpet is still not really fully dry and it smells BAD! It smells of feet. It's as if we "woke up" the filth in the carpet and it is now damp and stinky....all i want to do is rip it up and put laminate or even vinyl down but the landlord won't replace it he says it's fine! It's NOT fine..it reeks! Will it stop stinking or is that it now? I tried sprinkling bicarbonate of soda all over it and then vacuming as it is meant to neutralize smells but it still stinks...what can I do??? Will it stay stinky?
We have been airing the room and also put the heating on....it just feels damp!
