A few weeks back our kitchen flooded, caused by a burst pipe. Because of that the bottoms of the base units (because they are very old and chipboard) have being ruined, meaning they are very weak and will most likely collapse in the near future. Not to mention the laminated floor has being ruined too.
So we claimed on the Insurance. They accepted the claim and sent an assessor round, who said we defiantly need a new whole kitchen, he said the whole kitchen needed to be re-done.
A week later the insurance company sent us a letter explaining exactly what they are going to do. They had given us a budget of just over £2000, which seemed reasonable. But then it also said that with this £2000 they would replace the laminated floor, 'carefully' take out the work surface and sink, put new base units in and then put the original work surface and sink back in.
Our kitchen is very small so sure with £2000 they can do alot more then that?

This means we will have brand new base units and brand new laminated floor, but they are not going to replace anything else. So the new base-units will not match the old(about 20 years) wall units or work surface. So it will look very bad.
Do you think this is unreasonable? or our we just being fussy?
Oh and our insurance company is Zurich.
