I have had a pair of neutered British short-hair cats (M & F) from the same litter for 10 years, since they were kittens. They have both inherited polysistic kidney disease which is a degenerative and incurable condition. They are both on medication and special kidney diets.Recently the female has deteriorated significantly and her behaviour/personality has changed. Previously she was aloof and very quiet. Now she wails if she is alone and wants to sit on my lap, where she will go to sleep. She has also become untrustworthy, begun jumping on the kitchen counter and will steal any type of food in the kitchen, even after just eating a meal. After being completely house trained, with access to a cat flap, using the garden, she has begun to pee in the centre of the kitchen. Fortunately it is a laminated floor. At the same time, she will also use the garden, especially if I chase her out. The male behaves himself perfectly. We now have to confine her to the room with the cat flap. She does not pee there. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
