in september 2010 i was temporally paralysed for 4 weeks, this happened when in school, i was in a dance class and performed a lift, which subsequently led to me being thrown 3 meters away, landing on wooden laminate flooring. there was no safety mats out and no qualified teacher in the room, just a trainee which when we asked to perform the lift she said it was fine too with no hesitation, this has left me with constant back pain, some days i struggle to walk, i'm taking pain killers everyday, and has left me unable to do any physical activity. i am only 16 doing my A levels, fortunately after missing nearly 3 months off school during my last year of GCSE's i managed to get my grades to a reasonable level, which sadly wasn't the A's and B's predicted, the reason i am claiming is because i want the money to go towards my future, i plan on going to university and i hope this will help me get there.
i'm not blaming anyone the school should of had a qualified teacher, and i asked to do the lift, which the teacher agreed too, not even hesitating about the risk and then after the fall she went to move me, it was other class mates that stopped her.
there still should of been a qualified teacher, i know it is partially my fault that is why i have taken so long to decide on suing but the reason i am taking action is to help my future not to buy unnecessary things.
techniqually yes i did ask to perform the lift, but i was doing the lift for an event that my actual dance teacher a day before had asked the class to practise lifts, and i was only just 15 at the time, and also if you think that this is all on my fault then what happens to all the people who do sports who have accidents which have damaged them, is that there fault seen as they agreed to doing the sport.
