I live in a private rented flat.
It has no central heating, and the landlord has never provided any heaters for our use, so we have two heaters which we use to heat the house, which costs quite a bit and barely works, even when they're on for long periods. Certainly on room is warm, however the rest of the house is freezing. Is there anything else we can do...we use draft excluders as well but it doesn't seem to help.
Also, there's a problem with the flooring in the house. The joist is rotten underneath the laminate flooring, which is very unsafe to walk on for fear of falling through the floor. We reported it straight away to the landlord, in September, and still have not had it fixed. Apparently they are still awaiting a second quote from a different company (although only one has come to see it and advised it was dangerous) but they have not been in touch with us what so ever. This is also causing the house to be colder, doesn't help when you have a hole in your floor! Am i within my rights to ask for reduced rent until it's fixed?
