Whilst opening a blister pack a 10mg propanolol pill bounced off the coffee table and I heard it drop onto the laminate floor by accident. I've looked all over on my hands and knees but cannot find the pill. My concern is that I have Chihuahuas weighing no more than 5lbs & if they find & ingest it, it could be fatal. Please can anyone advise? I've shut them in a doggy crate for now but have limited vision and assistance to search further. I will continue to search but in the inerim would appreciate some indication of the dangers. My vet is on emergency recorded message, so I have no on hand advice. I am just so worried as the tablet could fatally drop their blood pressure with them being so small & they are greedy guzzlers so I can't rely on them spitting it out if it tastes nasty!
I am disabled which means that although I have endured a lot of pain by moving furniture and sweeping I am distraught as I still cannot find it. Unfortunately I have recently moved and have no local contacts and the few relatives I have are elderly & a great distance away. I don't appreciate the nasty comments made by some about my situation, but I am very grateful for thecomments so far. My difficulty is that my entire downstairs is open plan so other than keeping my Chi's in a doggy crate I am severely limited until I find the pill. This said I do intend not to take the risk and keep them upstairs or crated until I have idetified where the medication is on the floor. I am very grateful to the kind words and positive advice to the more constructive and passionate among you all. I will phone my vet in the morning also. Thanks for the suggestions so far -the pills are small and pink and I even went out to buy a torch with a stronger lamplight than I already owned. I will keep looking. x
