hiya was wondering if anyone can advice us on what we can do about getting our bond back. Weve just moved out and the estate agents are trying to keep our bond because they rekon we have ruined the floor in the living room its that real wood laminate stuff. It has scratch marks on it there our table chairs have been moved back and forward, also by the french doors which go out into the garden. also a little chip where i dropped a photo frame but before we moved in it had scratches where the landlord had had his tv. They are saying we have to replace it, even though its 11 years old and wasnt in best condition anyways (we cant prove it). It wont sand because its too old my dad says. Also the stair carpet which is also 11 years old has a few marks which the man who professional cleaned it said is due to the age. They are saying that because a few months before the landlord gave us our notice (notice given because he is splitting up with his wife and moving back in) we said wed go halfers with him on a better carpet instead of him just buying a cheap one. Becasue they agreed it was beyond old. Then before wed had a chance to go see about getting a new one he gave us our notice, They are now saying we should buy a new one. WHY??? We have also painted the intire house it was a mess when we moved in and we believe its in a better condition. Where do we stand on getting our bond back. My friend who rents houses out says they cant and its wear and tear. Am 7 months pregnant and dont need this any help would be welcome please thanks
