my little girl olivia is 2 in 3 weeks time and i have literally never ever had an issue with her sleep as she has been as good as gold since the word go. ive had a routine for her from about 9 weeks old and its never changed. tea, bath, bed and when we put her to bed we say'night night mummy loves you' and she replies... 'and daddy!' i then walk out of the room and leave her with her bottle to sleep. shes been in her toddler bed now for about 2 months and never had a problem with it apart from the first night then jumped into bed and continued with her routine as normal. from bonfire night with the fireworks all i have had is 'mummy liv scared, mummy chair' meaning she wants me to sit with her until she falls asleep (which is now taking her about 40 mins and lots of messing around) before it took her 5 mins. now we play in her room in the day and she has no problem with getting into her bed its just when i leave her. so if i stay she messes around, if i leave she stands at her baby gate crying her eyes out shouting mummy. i have left her to cry it out before and she literally falls asleep on her laminate floor with her bum in the air after maybe half an hour of crying. im not sure whats best to do here as when she was smaller id just go in and check everythin was ok and leave again and it worked, but it cant be good to keep letting her fall asleep on the floor surely? and by sitting with her after two and a half weeks of no improvement im surely just feeding into a habit that will surely become long term? help!! i have my 10 month old daughter ready and waiting to share her room with her (and when we have tested this it proved to be very difficult as olivia would just play with her and we have only just got bellas routine together after teething) so im just so stuck as to what to do? she doesnt have a dummy and a nightlight has made a difference either :S any help, experiences or advice would be brilliant :)
great responses so far. just to note olivia has never spent any time in bed my. ever not even from birth and this can be a hindrance when she is unwell but for the long term its better for her. i have also looked into night terrors and although she does occasionally wake in the night looking for her bottle she not particularly scared or screaming. her bedtime routine is 7pm and she wakes between 6:30-7 am.
